These 75 tramcars were constructed by the
St.Louis Car. Co. They entered service in 1901. Damaged by a fire in 1917
in the Santo Amaro depot, the 473 and 474 did get new, Brill
type, bodies. In 1935 the
415, 455, 467 & 468 were withdrawn from service. Their trucks and
electric equipments were used for new "Standard" cars with
retaining of their numbers. Between 1951 and 1963 a total of 23 other cars
went out of service. Their trucks and electric equipments were used for
"Caixote" cars, also with retaining of the numbers. The cars 435
& 437 were reconstructed in 1965 to become the Tourist service cars 2
& 1. All other cars were withdrawn from service until 1973.
